CEDI Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) Implementation
Government Services, Inc. Common Electronic Data Interchange (CEDI) will bring
down the CEDI Gateway at 3:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 until no
later than 11:59 p.m. ET to implement changes to require the Medicare
Beneficiary Identifier (MBI). During this time, CEDI customers will not
be able to connect and exchange transactions with CEDI. Once the updates
have been installed and verified, the CEDI Gateway will be brought back up for
CEDI customers to resume exchanging transactions with CEDI.
Once the CEDI Gateway is brought back up, all electronic claims regardless of the date of service must be submitted with the MBI. CEDI will return the following rejection for claims submitted with the Health Insurance Claim Number (HICN):
- Claims Status Category Code of A7 (acknowledgment rejected for invalid information), a Claims Status Code of 164 (entity’s contract/member number), and an Entity Code of IL (subscriber)
