Attention All CEDI Trading Partners, Suppliers, Billing Services, Clearinghouses, and Vendors

An open door forum has been scheduled for the impact of Change Request 6417 and 6421 regarding expansion of the current scope of editing for ordering/referring providers for claims processed by Medicare carriers and Part B Medicare administrative contractors (MACs).

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has released the proposed topics for the physicians, nurses, and Allied Health professionals.

Open Door Forum
Tuesday, November 17, 2009
2:00-3:00 p.m. eastern time (ET)

The topics will include the impact of Change Request (CR) 6417 and CR 6421. These CRs require Medicare implementation of system edits to assure that Part B providers and suppliers bill for ordered or referred items or services only when those items or services are ordered or referred by physician and nonphysician practitioners who are eligible to order/refer such services. Physician and nonphysician practitioners who order or refer must be enrolled in the Medicare Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System (PECOS) and must be of the type/specialty who are eligible to order/refer services for Medicare beneficiaries.

If you wish to participate, dial 1-800-837-1935 Conference ID 34706357. To view the full participation announcement, including how to participate in-person please download the information from this link http://www.cms.hhs.gov/OpenDoorForums/23_ODF_PNAHP.aspexternal link.
